He's likely the driving factor behind the bulk of my musical taste, as well as having inspired me to pick up a guitar myself and play poor renditions of his songs. There is still nothing quite like these guys to satisfy that musical itch of getting pummelled in the face repeatedly for 45 mins, great stuffįrank is probably the musician I owe the most to. Fantastic and varied musicianship, plentiful hooks, utterly genuine vocal delivery, wonderfully (and deceptively) simple yet effective lyricism, relatability, timeless style, an undeniable legacy. I'm yet to find another album that can invoke so many disparate feelings at once whilst maintaining cohesion, or at least an album that does it quite as effortlessly, as Born to Run. Having said that, this is incredibleīasically got me into the heavier variants of m/ and still easily my favourite metal record. Streetlight Manifesto The Hands That Thieve If you can get past the tacky commercialised emo aesthetic, there is a fantastic record buried beneath it. One of the first records I ever loved, a cornerstone of my teenage listening and a hefty influence on my tastes today.

Not much bad to say about it, check it out. Additionally its a pretty fantastic break up record, as well as being the only record that I've introduced to my whole family which they loved. It contains the best blend of Frank and the Sleeping Souls to date and some of Frank's greatest songs ('Plain Sailing Weather', 'Anymore', 'Recovery' etc.). This is the first I heard of Frank and is one of his most underrated records. The single most cathartic blackhole of an album I've ever come across. It remains one of the best ska-punk records I've come across and has immeasurable sentimental value. Back in 2011, it was like nothing I'd ever heard and made me eager to explore. This is THE album that got me into music. Streetlight Manifesto Somewhere in the Between I have great memories of jamming this late at night with the lights down low and a mad grin on my face, perplexed by just how good it was. Its also impressively varied and yet somehow still maintains a cohesive 'feel' throughout. Its bizarrely catchy, worryingly relatable and has so much damn character.
